Cookie Policy

Last updated: 28 May 2026

This page lists every cookie and similar browser storage mechanism set by codeswap.net or by third parties when you visit. It also tells you how to disable them. For the broader picture of what data we collect, see the Privacy Policy.

What is a cookie

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. The browser sends it back to the same site on subsequent visits. Cookies are how sites remember you between page loads — for example, remembering you're logged in or that you prefer dark mode. Modern browsers also support related mechanisms (localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB) which serve similar purposes but stay on your device only.

First-party cookies (set by Codeswap)

NamePurposeTypeDuration
codeswap_sess PHP session ID. Set only if you submit a form (contact, share, future account features). Strictly necessary Browser session
csrf_token (session value, not a separate cookie) CSRF protection for form submissions. Strictly necessary Browser session
cs-theme (localStorage) Stores your light/dark theme preference. Functional Until cleared
cs-hist-* (localStorage, one per tool) Stores your last 10 inputs to each tool, locally. Never transmitted. Functional Until cleared

None of the above identify you as an individual or are shared with any third party.

Third-party cookies and storage

Plausible Analytics

Plausible is a privacy-friendly analytics service. It does not set cookies. It tracks page views via a single JavaScript request per page load, with all data anonymized and aggregated. IP addresses are not stored, only used briefly to derive a country.

Google AdSense (when enabled)

Once AdSense is approved for this site, Google may set cookies in your browser to:

  • Serve relevant advertisements.
  • Measure ad performance.
  • Detect ad fraud.
  • Personalize ads based on your interests and prior visits.

Common cookies set by Google AdSense include NID, IDE, __gads, __gpi, and others described in Google's cookie policy. For EU visitors, a consent banner appears before any non-essential advertising cookies are set; you can decline personalized ads while still seeing non-personalized ones.

How to disable cookies

In your browser

Every modern browser lets you block cookies per-site or globally. Instructions:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data.

Opting out of personalized ads

Visit Google Ad Settings to opt out of personalized ads served by Google across the web. For broader ad-personalization opt-outs:

Note that opting out of personalized advertising does not stop ads from appearing — only personalization. You'll see ads regardless; they'll just be less relevant.

Disabling localStorage on Codeswap

If you disable JavaScript or use private/incognito mode, the localStorage entries above will not persist between sessions. The site remains fully usable; tools just won't remember your theme or recent inputs across visits.

Changes to this policy

If we add new cookies or change how existing ones work, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top will change.
