Why structured data matters

Schema.org structured data tells Google (and other consumers) what a page is about in a machine-readable way. It powers rich results: star ratings under product pages, FAQ accordions in SERPs, breadcrumb trails replacing the URL, sitelink search boxes, knowledge panels.
